Adult Education Part-time Hourly Teacher

This position for a Family literacy instructor is to teach English as a Second Language, Parenting, Technology Skills, Employability skills, etc. to parents of children at district elementary schools. The position is part-time, hourly – 35 hrs./wk. The classes will be hybrid – 1/2 face to face and 1/2 online. Classes are held during the school day.

The Hollands School Limited in Singapore is a Dutch preschool and primary school with a total of 350 students and provides education to children of parents who work in Singapore. The school was founded in 1920 and the school board comprises representatives from various companies.

The HSL is a vibrant school that focuses on ‘result oriented working and action-based learning’ student centered teaching. to appropriately address the educational and social-emotional needs of the student. In addition to the basic subjects in Numeracy, Dutch and English literacy, we work with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) at HSL, which is also taught in Dutch. Structural Cooperative Learning (SCL) is applied throughout the school.

There are specialist teachers for Physical Education, Music and English. There is also a Learning Support Center with two Learning support coordinators, remedial teachers and a speech therapist.

Our students’ learning process is our central focus point and our aim to continuously develop in order for our students’ learning to continue to grow.

Candidate Profile

For this job we seek an enthusiastic and inspirational colleague who is willing to make a positive contribution towards the development of the International Stream at the HSL.

The teacher assistant will support the English Primary Teacher in the classroom by preparing lesson materials and monitoring students during class.

Candidates must have the following profile:

• Native-speaker proficiency in English
• Communication skills: written and verbal communication skills in English
• Relevant Teaching Assistant certificate or relevant diploma

• Relevant working experience as a Teaching Assistant
• Good classroom management skills
• Good team player who is adaptable and takes initiative
• Able to offer differentiated teaching
• ICT literate (Apple)
• Knowledge of using cooperative learning structures in lessons
