Online Teaching Assistant and/or Tutor (Part Time)
Coursello is a new education company on a mission to make high-quality courses accessible to all students. Founded by a former principal and leaders from LearnZillion, eBay, and Apple, Coursello provides schools and districts with live, discussion-based online courses for high schoolers. Coursello is backed by A-Street Ventures.
Coursello is looking to hire a team of remote Teaching Assistants and Tutors to support live, online high school courses in subjects ranging from Psychology to Algebra to Spanish, starting in August and September. We anticipate the team being composed largely of current undergraduate and graduate students. However, we are open to applicants who have already completed their studies.
Compensation & Schedule
- Stipend of $2,000-$3,000 per class per semester with the option for multiple classes (~$15-$20/hour)
- Position(s) are considered remote; candidates can work from home anywhere in the U.S.
- Class times will vary. We’re looking for candidates who can take anywhere between 8-15 hours per week
Teaching Assistants are responsible for:
- Supporting the teacher in facilitating “live classes” for Coursello courses (there are 3 live classes per week). You will have weekly planning calls to prepare for your respective roles in each class.
- Hosting “live support classes” (there are 2 live support classes per week). During that time you will share the tasks for the class and check in with teams and individual students.
- Supporting the teacher with grading and providing feedback to students
- Providing additional support to students struggling with the academic expectations
- Collaborating with Coursello Course Designers and teachers to continually improve the course content
Tutors are responsible for:
- Tutoring small groups (2-4 students) in math (Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2) several times a week for 30-40 minutes over zoom
- Preparing for tutoring sessions by reviewing the lesson slides ahead of time
- Building relationships/trust with each student in the tutoring group
- Communicating progress/updates with the Coursello teacher
- Coordinating with the school’s learning coach/proctor

Part Time Job Work at Home
Student Disability Resources (SDR) is hiring part-time exam proctors. Hours will vary daily, between 8:00 am – 11:00 pm (Monday – Friday only). The hourly rate is $10.75 – Per Diem. Exams will be held virtually, with no in-person student contact.
Responsibilities include administering exams, being alert and observant during exams, respecting the confidentiality of the SDR department and students receiving accommodations, and maintaining the integrity of the testing environment. Must be comfortable with Zoom and have a basic understanding of Microsoft programs. DUE TO EXAM CONFIDENTIALITY, THIS POSITION IS NOT OPEN TO STUDENTS.

Writing Tutor – Part Time (Work From Home)
Smarthinking, a Pearson service unit, is hiring experienced, educated individuals to serve as part-time online tutors. Smarthinking provides online tutoring to students and clients from middle school through graduate degrees. Online writing tutors provide both real-time, audio-enabled sessions and asynchronous writing reviews for students at various academic levels as they learn to become more effective writers. Tutors can work from any location with computer and Internet access.
Each term (spring, summer, fall) tutors have a set weekly schedule—typically between 8-19 hours per week—based on their scheduling preferences. The tutor hiring timeline is largely as follows: screening and hiring in June; tutor training in July/August; fall schedules set in July/August; fall term shifts begin in September.
Qualifications
To qualify, individuals must have teaching/tutoring experience in English/writing or the humanities and an ability to communicate effectively in an online setting.
The ideal candidate will have training and/or experience in one or more of the following areas: MA or PhD coursework or degree in rhetoric, composition, literature, and/or English education; specialty coursework, degree, or teaching/tutoring experience in English as a Second Language (ESL) or English Language Learning; and/or teaching experience in developmental and first-year English composition courses. As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
