About the position

This is a rewarding long-term career opportunity to work alongside established Fortune 500 companies, senior-level executives, and successful business owners of small and medium size businesses as they make a greater impact in the world. As a legal assistant, you will have the opportunity to choose the companies that you support based on company values and your preferences, and to create long-term partnerships with the executives that you support as you develop new skill sets and get exposure to a variety of industries. As a legal assistant you’ll apply your professional skills in a wide range of tasks including:

  • Maintaining appointment schedules and calendar.
  • Planning and scheduling meetings, conferences, and travel.
  • Organizing travel arrangements including flight and hotel bookings.
  • Supporting legal firms or corporate/non-profit legal departments with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Maximizing the executive’s time by reading, researching, and routing correspondence; drafting letters and documents; collecting and analyzing information; initiating phone calls on their behalf.
  • Email management.
  • Creating PowerPoint presentations.
  • Managing expenses.
  • Conducting research on various topics.
  • Providing customer/supplier support.
  • Other executive admin responsibilities as needed.

Your Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years, direct hands-on experience in a role related to executive assistance and legal administration.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work as needed.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Knowledge of online tools and software such as Google Workplace, Outlook and Zoom.
  • Ability to learn new tools quickly.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Highly organized.

Position Summary
The Remote Research Assistant (RA) position for the VISION study is tasked with facilitating remote study participant visits, participants compensation and data quality assurance activities.

Participant Retention: The RA will contact participants via phone/text who have missed their online survey target visit window. They will either assist the participant by completing the survey over the phone, ask a sub-set of questions or record the reason for the missed visit in the study database.

Scheduling LabCorp visits: A sub-study of 750 participants will go to a local LabCorp for blood draws. The RA will remind study participants of their upcoming visits. Place the LabCorp orders in the electronic system. Cancel orders if the participant is unable to attend the visit.

Participant renumeration: Participants will receive compensation for completing study visits. The RA will Run reports twice daily in the study database and LabCorp to determine who qualifies for an incentive.
The RA will upload email addresses into Amazon Incentives that will email participants their compensation. The RA will document that the incentives were given in the study database and reconcile reports for UNC accounting.

Data Quality Assurance Activities: The remote RA will be delegated tasks such as reviewing online consent forms, running data reports and other quality assurance activities as needed.
This staff member must be willing to be trained in research ethics, infection control, and wear a clinic provided face mask in common areas. Participants with active COVID-19 will be seen at this research facility.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

WHAT WE SEEK
A Virtual Literacy Tutor Instructor is an experienced, creative, and knowledgeable educator who will provide virtual academic support (up to 30 hours per week) to a diverse group of elementary, middle, or high school students covering topics for literacy. The Tutor Instructor will provide regular Literacy/ELA support to students virtually, in a one-on-one or a small group setting of up to 8 students per group. The tutoring service is designed to provide academic instruction via a safe and secure online video conferencing platform for students in different time increments, ranging from 15- minute to 45-minute sessions.
One of the main perks of this role – flexible hours! Work when you want to work, based on your schedule. We have opportunities on the East Coast and West Coast after school and on Saturdays. We also have districts interested in tutoring during the school day. Tutor Instructors can make their own schedule!

WHAT YOUR TUTORING SESSIONS WILL LOOK LIKE

  • Meet With and Motivate Students: Tutor Instructors will work one on one or with small groups of students to provide support in their designated literacy as needed. Tutor Instructors will interact virtually with students to engage, develop and demonstrate coursework and ensure understanding of the concepts presented. Tutor Instructors will offer encouragement and support to keep students motivated and ready to learn.
  • Data-Driven Support: Tutor Instructors may use data from Carnegie Learning’s software program as well as other resources to provide support to students during their one-on-one or small group sessions.

WHAT SHOULD BE IN YOUR BACKPACK

  • Teaching certification from a state in the US.
  • Must have a solid academic background in literacy.
  • Must have some experience using video conferencing software and be comfortable managing a K-12 classroom in a virtual setting.
  • Experience working with both advanced and low-performing students, particularly at the elementary, middle, or high school level, is preferred.
  • Experience with Common Core State Standards for Literacy is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Carnegie Learning’s software program is preferred.
